When it comes to choosing a first name, parents have a lot of options. Commoners can choose the name that suits them best. The Royals, on the other hand, must generally stick to a strict set of options.

Recently, much speculation has been made about the name that will be chosen by Megan Markle and Prince Harry for Baby Sussex. Some think that they stick to the tradition and choose from a pre-approved list. Others think that they could go with something unique.

You may be wondering why people think they can give Baby Sussex a unique name. Well, Megan Markle is an American celebrity. In the United States, celebrities often choose strange and unusual names.

Again, Prince Harry comes from a long line of traditional names. So, would Queen Elizabeth really reject the unique name of Megan and Harry? Here is what we know so far.

What names do the Duke and Duchess envisage?

Just a week ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked you to kindly support various organizations around the world instead of sending gifts for the upcoming arrival of their firstborn. Not only have many of you supported, you have acted. Their Royal Highnesses asked you to know the impact of your support – the direct effect of your donation, your energy and the actions taken! YOU chose to be part of the public good and you really changed things. That it is a gift of 5 dollars, a contribution of 1,000 pounds, an offer of volunteer work or dissemination of information, you played your part. And in the name of the Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you very much. YOUR IMPACT: @thelunchboxfund will now be able to provide a minimum of 100,000 extra hot, nutritionally enriched meals to children in need in South Africa. @Littlevillagehq has received donations from around the world (from the United Arab Emirates to Hong Kong and the United States). We have increased the number of their monthly donors, increased the number of volunteer applications, and resuscitated their team of more than 200 hard-working employees and volunteers. @wellchild can now provide more than 300 additional hours of specialized care from a healthy nurse to a critically ill child. Need for families to stay together at home vs at the hospital @ Baby2Baby has received more than 5,000 products to distribute to children in need including cradles, books, backpacks, diapers and Silver donations from around the world – from Guadalajara to Italy. You did that happen. Thank you.

To our knowledge, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have told no one what names they officially considered. Traditionally, they chose a list of ancient monarchs, as Kate Middleton and Prince William had done for their three babies.

If this is the case, we should expect a name like Victoria, Elizabeth or Mary if Baby Sussex is a girl. Among the traditional names that many have mentioned are Alexander, Albert and James.

On the other hand, there are rumors that the couple plans to choose Diana to honor Prince Harry's mother. Some have suggested non-traditional names like Taylor, Cohen or Hunter.

When will we know the name Baby Sussex?

As Baby Sussex is expected to arrive this month, we may be able to know the name sooner than expected. The world is on gables and needles waiting for the official announcement. So how long before knowing which name has been chosen?

The process of choosing a name is longer for the royal family than for the commoner. First, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will have to select the name. Then they will have to inform the queen of their choice. Once Queen Elizabeth receives her name, she will have to decide whether she is worthy and acceptable.

The queen will decide if the name is appropriate or if a new name will have to be chosen. Queen Elizabeth will also have to decide what title to give to the baby. For example, Kate Middleton and the official name of Prince William's third child are His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge.

With such long names, it will take time for the queen to decide. If they get off the train completely with their first names, it may take even longer for Queen Elizabeth to approve or reject it.

Would Queen Elizabeth reject the unique names of Meghan and Harry?

It is still possible that Queen Elizabeth rejects the unique names of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, especially if they are very Hollywood, like Apple, North or Coco.

If the name is modern, but not out of the field of mental health, then the queen may be fine with it. Alice, Doria and Diana were erected into possible non-traditional royal names.

These would probably be approved because Baby Sussex will be weaker in the line of succession, reports Express.

Unlike the children of Kate Middleton and Prince William, Baby Sussex is not as likely to take the royal throne. This makes it unnecessary to stick to strict rules and guidelines.

In any case, the whole world is excited about the upcoming announcement. Whether the Duke and the Duchess bear a traditional, non-traditional or decidedly unique name, the world will talk about it for a long time.
