NEW ORLEANS (AP) – An ambushed crowd has injured several people attending a New Orleans festival hosted by rapper Lil Wayne.

It is estimated that about 15,000 spectators ran at least twice Saturday night, resulting in injuries after Meek Mill's performance at Lil WeezyAna Fest.

The Times-Picayune / The New Orleans Advocate reports that the police do not really know what caused the disturbances, but it assumes that false rumors of gunfire or fights could have caused panic.

We did not know how many people had been injured. The newspaper reported that fans were hit on the ground and suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises. On-site medical staff provided care.

Concession workers say that some people looted during the fray, stealing cash registers and jars. Some festivalgoers took bottles of alcohol and other drinks.

The show continued despite the brief pandemonium.
