The new Activision Blizzard lawsuit they’ve been assigned has made waves in the gaming community, and now it’s having a direct impact on upcoming updates for World of Warcraft, one developer said.

On July 22, Activision Blizzard was hit with a lengthy lawsuit that claimed that the developers behind some of the world’s most popular titles such as Call of Duty, WoW, and Overwatch showcase a “ubiquitous boy culture. fraternity”.

Now, with ripples being sent to the gaming community and many of them expressing solidarity with the employees, noted one of the current World of Warcraft developers, they have put the brakes on updates to the game for the time being.

WoW Developer Says “No Work” In Progress

With the consequences of the lawsuit still pending, one of the developers of WoW, arguably Blizzard’s flagship title, noted that he was no longer going to update the game for the time being.

Senior Systems Designer at Wow, Jeff Hamilton posted a thread of tweets about his position regarding the recent lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, and in one of those tweets he noted that “almost no work is being done on World of Warcraft right now during this obscenity is playing out.

While we don’t know how long this shutdown will last, we’ll have to wait and see if other Activision Blizzard developers follow suit after their colleagues decide to stop work.

This ultimately means that WoW won’t be receiving any updates at this time, so players won’t have any new content to wait for.
