In a new interview with Bloomberg Today, Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, shared some of his thoughts on folding phones. Samsung and Huawei is currently at the forefront of the market in innovation in this area, he was afraid that the iPhone is falling behind.
Wozniak was asked about what Apple should do next, as it seems that they are late for Samsung and Huawei. Both companies unveiled their foldable smartphones this month. The Samsung Galaxy Fold will start at $ 1,980 and ship in April. It has a 4.6-inch screen on the outside of the device and a 7.3-inch screen that unfolds on the inside. It also sports a total of six cameras.
Just after the announcement of Samsung, Huawei unveiled its own foldable Mate X. It is notably more elegant than the Galaxy Fold and will sell for an even higher price of $ 2,600. When open, it features an 8-inch outdoor folding screen, even larger than the Galaxy Fold's main display. The Mate X measures 5.4 mm in thickness when it is deployed and measures 11 mm in thickness when it is bent.
Wozniak noted in the interview that Apple was the leader in several areas related to advanced smartphones, including: Touch ID, Face ID and mobile payments with Apple Pay. However, he expressed his concern about Samsung and Huawei, who are leading the sector in the retreat of smartphones.

He pointed out, however, that "Apple always has surprises" and "that they always work on things in the background".
Although the Galaxy Fold is impressive in many ways, it looks like a prototype product with large housings and is quite thick once folded (though thick Samsung has not yet revealed the dimensions). Huawei's Mate X feels more modern and polite, but of course, this price is very salty. Last week, we saw a concept of what a collapsible iPhone might look like.
