WrestleMania Stock Report: Who's at the Top and Bottom of WrestleMania 34-35 (Part VI: The Final Matches)

[ad_1]

Welcome to the last installment of this year WrestleMania report on equities, our annual series in which we look at all the players in WrestleMania map and see how they behaved during the year. You can see where people were at the same time last year in last year's final report. right here.

WrestleMania This is the perfect time to see how a wrestler's stock has moved over 365 days. It serves as a "season finale" in the year of the WWE. It's there that they pay their big stories and that they want to show their best. Where someone lands on the Mania The card says a lot about their current stock. Given the number of people competing for the biggest show of the year, it's a good glimpse of how WWE sees some talent.

We will finish with the last matches of the card. I'm hesitant to call them "major events" as they will also put important matches at an early stage of the card. These four games are not the four most important in the series, but they contain the first two men's titles and one of the women.

Nia Jax def. Alexa Bliss (c) to win Raw Women's Championship

Nia Jax

Nia won the title last year and defended it successfully against Bliss at backlash. She then focuses on a title match against Ronda Rousey at Money in the bank PPV, but this was interrupted by Bliss, who had just won the briefcase. She hit Ronda with, causing a DQ, attacked Nia, then cashed to win the title.

Nia would have his revenge against Bliss (they had three games for the title in a short time) and did not win.

Jax took a break before coming back. She finally turned the heel and aligned with Tamina. Her most infamous moment is when she legitimately opened Becky Lynch and inflicted a concussion on her, depriving us of the Ronda / Becky match. Survivor series. (We now get it to WrestleMania. It's not a one-on-one, and it was a lot warmer at that time, because they messed up the narration for the last three months. But if Nia did not open the door to Becky, Lynch may not be at the main event this year.)

They relied on this heat for Jax, nicknamed "Face Breaker". She would have another title match against Ronda at TLC but failed. (She and Ronda have a very good chemistry together.)

Jax attacked R-Truth when he entered the Royal Rumble and took his place. He got a good performance in the Men's Royal Rumble (after competing previously in the women's).

With the new women's titles present, she and Tamina focused on the new belts. They failed with them in the elimination chamber and at Expressway. They will have another blow to WrestleMania fatal to 4 against Boss 'N' Hug Connection, IIconics and Divas of Doom.

Best moment: His Royal Rumble showing

The worst moment: When she cut an anti-bullying promo and got booed

Stock: Slightly down – She is not in the league match, but she is still in the second most important women's match of the card.

Alexa Bliss

Bliss lost her title here, but do not worry, Blissmarks, because she won a title shortly after.

She won the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed it the same night in the title match Nia Jax / Ronda Rousey. She pinned Jax (the champion) and won the title.

This set up Slam summer match against Ronda Rousey, when Ronda would finally win the Gross Women's Championship. Bliss was not able to win in his revenge.

His year was marked by rumors of injuries (and some real injuries).

When she was not fighting, she hosted the unforgettable Moment of Bliss.

She will be the host of WrestleMania this year, it is a place they give to talents too important to be left out of the map but for which they have no place (or are injured).

Best moment: Make money at the bank and cash in the same night

The worst moment: Get caught by Ronda Rousey Slam summer

Stock: Soft drop – Using the host position just to put it on the map shows that it is really important to them. But she's not in a league game, which is a dive.

AJ Styles def. Shinsuke Nakamura retains WWE title

AJ Styles

Styles retained the title in New Orleans and continued to argue with Nakamura for a few months. He successfully defended against Rusev. He then had another extended feud, this time with Samoa Joe.

In November, he had to face Brock Lesnar in a championship game Survivor Series. But just like he won the title, he lost it in an impromptu match against Daniel Bryan just before pay-per-view (PPV).

He did not struggle to Survivor Seriesand it was the first PPV that had been missing for ages.

His quarrel with Daniel Bryan continued, particularly at a strange time when Vince McMahon was trying to bring out the AJ aggression and where Styles was hitting the president in the face. The phenomenal was unable to recover the gold.

AJ will work Randy Orton to WrestleMania.

Best moment: Keep your title for one year

The worst moment: Losing his title, which also ends his PPV series

Stock: Slight decrease – He is still considered a superstar star, but going from one champion to another does not always accompany a slight decline.

Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura did not win the title at WrestleMania, turning the heel in the process.

He was better suited as a stub, but that did not help him win the title. (Nak learned to love the action like no other.) He competed with AJ for months but never managed to win the WWE title.

He had more luck with the US championship, for which he beat Jeff Hardy and held him for six months (apart from a hiccup against Rusev).

Nakamurica lost his title against R-Truth, then formed a team of tattered heels with Rusev, which he does now. He and Rusev are in a fatal 4-way Smack down tag team title match this year.

Best moment: Turn the heel – This did not lead to the best success, but it was so much better. Trolling Renee Young was the biggest.

The worst moment: Loss of US title against R-Truth, which led to a random beacon with Rusev

Stock: Big fall – He was in a WWE title "dream" bout last year and is in a multi-team match this year.

Braun Strowman and Nicholas def. the bar to win the Raw Team Championships

Braun Strowman

Looking at Braun's trajectory, I have to ask myself if this is his role now.

After WrestleManiaAt a time when he was so opposed to looking for a partner to pick a child, he started teaming up with everyone for random matches. He also had a feud with Kevin Owens to beat KO.

The Monster won the Money in the Bank Briefcase, but as an idiot, cashed it by announcing it in advance. He did not manage to win the title because Brock Lesnar interrupted the Hell in a cell main event, resulting in a non-contest.

The monster found a heel to fight the shield alongside Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. He faced the face again when Roman Reigns left because of his diagnosis of leukemia.

After the cancellation of Roman's universal title, Strowman faced Brock Lesnar for the belt but quickly lost the match to Jewel of the crown. (Baron Corbin struck with the title before the match, which left Strowman at a disadvantage.)

Braun finally got his revenge by defeating Corbin to TLCdespite the fact that he had his arm in a sling. (It was a game without a DQ and everyone beat Corbin for him.) Winning this game earned him a new title against Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. But persistent problems with Corbin cost him that too.

On a GrossBaron angered Strowman, and Strowman pursued him in the back. The Lone Wolf hid in Vince McMahon's limousine and Braun, not knowing it was Vince's limo, destroyed it. (Knowing Braun, he may have destroyed it anyway.) Because of this, McMahon deprived the Monster Among Men of his title game.

En route to WrestleManiahe is in conflict with (check tickets) Colin Jost and Michael Che of SNL? D & # 39; AGREEMENT. He will be in the royal battle of André this year.

Best moment: Make money in the bank

The worst moment: It's an equal match between losing his title game with Royal Rumble, cashing in his briefcase like a moron and not defeating Brock again. Jewel of the crown.

Stock: Down – It occupies a similar position this year inMania – little direction without correspondence. However, this last year of bad booking has weakened it.

Nicolas

Nicholas was an accomplished champion and dropped his title the following night because of "school".

The celebrity caught the attention of the boy's head and the schoolboy quickly adopted the rock star lifestyle: nights at any time of night, women, drinks and drugs. He lived fast and lived dangerous.

At the height of fame, it appears that he and Vince McMahon have reached an agreement to shake hands to return to a marquee. Slam summer meet. But at the last minute, Nicholas tried to hold Vince for more money. They had a huge explosion and the match never took place.

He began to tumble and found himself in and out of prisons and rehab centers. VH1 did a "Behind the Gross tag team champions "about him who was very powerful. Since then, he has cleaned up and lectured to children at risk and has a TED talk about the dangers of the rock star lifestyle. Rumor has it that he is in talks with AEW for a return.

Or none of this is true, and he is still only in college. One or the other.

Best moment: Be 10 years old and have won the team championships at WrestleMania

The worst moment: Having to give up the belt because of the school

Stock: Fall – An act done right here

The bar

The bar moved from Gross at Smack down this year, but not before having a chance to win the lost team titles against Braun Strowman and a child of WrestleMania. They failed, losing the match against the Deleters of Worlds.

Sure Smack down, they finally won the New Day titles with the help of the Big Show, which (surprise!) turned the corner. They lost them shortly after finishing (surprise!) To turn around and hit Cesaro behind the scenes. Without the big man in their corner, they lost the titles.

They were active in the Smack down tag scene much of the year.

Best moment: Big Show turn on their heels from them

The worst moment: Losing team titles to a child

Stock: Slight drop – I think they're pretty close to last year's, but less featured and more realistic, losing your tag titles to the benefit of a kid will permanently reduce your stock permanently.

Brock Lesnar def. Roman Reigns keeps the championship universal

Brock Lesnar

I think most of us would have guessed that Brock would not even be WrestleMania this year, but back to the UFC. But here we are, with the Beast in another world championship match.

He defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania and then again at Greatest Royal Rumble. But the third time was the charm for the big dog as he defeated Lesnar at Slam summer.

It could have been that for Brock, but he came back to Hell in a cell to interrupt a Cell match between Roman and Strowman for the title. It may have set up a triple threat or another Brock / Roman match, but Roman then had to leave the title.

For the vacant title, Brock was expected to face Braun Strowman at the Jewel of the crown Event. Brock won quite easily.

His next match was against Daniel Bryan at Survivor Series in a championship show. Brock won, but Bryan made a close one. Finn Bálor did the same thing at the Royal Rumble.

Brock will go for the WrestleMania Shield Trifecta this time when he will face Seth Rollins one by one for the title.

Best moment: Win the title Jewel of the crown in about a squash

The worst moment: The only time he lost

Stock: Just a slight decrease – Only because his match with Roman last year proved to be the best game but this year against Seth does not have that feeling. (And this is certainly not the main event.)

Roman Reign

It will be difficult to look at Roman's year, given the real circumstances surrounding it.

He lost his fight to WrestleMania and then failed to claim the universal title in a cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Leaving the title scene (because Lesnar has been gone for a while), he has had quarrels with Samoa Joe and Jinder Mahal, which he has won. He lost a game against Bobby Lashley, but got that win when he won another world title match against Brock at Slam summer.

Finally (finally) he won the universal title.

The shield reformed to protect him from Braun Strowman's cash withdrawals from the bank. They did a little round of meeting, even though it seemed that Dean Ambrose was starting to part with the group.

Unfortunately, the real life took place and Roman had to leave suddenly because his leukemia, which was in remission, had returned.

Roman returned in February with the good news that he was back in remission. Free to fight again, he implored Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to reform the Shield for a final game, which they won.

A few weeks ago he was attacked by Drew McIntyre, who he will face one by one to WrestleMania.

I will be using more in-year / narrative events for Best / Worst, although both are obviously related to cancer if we speak in real life.

Best moment: Finally defeat Lesnar to win the title

The worst moment: Losing to Lesnar twice in a row Mania and Biggest royal rumble, crying conspiracy

Stock: Slightly down – Only because he came back when WrestleMania the plans were already completely in motion. He is still Roman and their centerpiece. We should expect him to come back next year.

All right, forget that bad boy.

Not to mention any NXT talent in the Royal Women's Battle and without Nicholas, we saw 84 people this year.

  • 23 of these 84 (27%) had increased their stocks. I had the number last year at 39%.
  • The biggest increase must go to Becky Lynch and then to Kofi Kingston. The place of the Miz is rather improved as its Baron Corbin.
  • 35 of these 84 (42%) had reduced inventories. Last year, I had 21%.
  • The two winners of the 2018 Royal Rumble failed last year. The fall of Asuka was brutal at the end because of last-minute changes, but there is no question of saying that Shinsuke Nakamura broke down throughout last year. Jinder Mahal returned to Earth after his ascent last year (even though he was already starting to do it at that time). The two members of the Rusev Day are rather less fortunate than last year.
  • 21 of 84 (25%) were unchanged. That's pretty close to 18% from last year.
  • Only four people are injured, which is pretty good.
  • More surprisingly, one person is no longer part of the business of last year. WrestleMania Tye Dillinger, who asked for his release. (Big Cass was also released, but he was not brought back from his injury before WrestleMania.)

What does it mean?

Obviously, most actions are subjective, especially those that have changed little. Nobody will say that the shares of Becky and Kofi are high or that those of Nakamura are down. But you can certainly debate small movements. I thought Finn Bálor had lost a bit of weight because of the caliber of the feud, but you could just as easily argue that it should be slightly up because it's a one-game match. So keep that in mind.

I found it surprising that the percentage of drops perceived, even subtle, is well above that of last year. You would think with a similar map, they would even be equal. But I think two things explain that.

The first thing that stands out is the sheer number of one-on-one matches this year, which means it's not exactly a similar card. I have ten games in one against one this year. There were only six last year and one of them was the Undertaker / John Cena squash. It is therefore less places available outside the battle kingship.

The other thing is thirteen people on this year's card, not in a royal battle, that were not in the series last year. Lashley is in the match for the Intercontinental Title. Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe, who make up the face-to-face title game against the United States this year, were not on the show last year. Batista becomes a place.

By combining these two elements, there are fewer places available outside of Royal Royals and more people to occupy them.

Looking back, I also find it interesting to see how many people have no significant movement. It's not easy to get away from where the wrestlers are, but it's feasible.

Well, here you are, guys. It's our look at everyone's trajectory over last year. WrestleMania map. Tell us who you think has done the best and the worst this year and who will be the most successful this year. And you can catch up with the rest of the series below.
