Looks like the Skrulls were part of the Far from home from the beginning, even more centrally at one point because they were involved in the Mysterio plot. While the writers decided to turn the evil character of Jake Gyllenhaal into a hustler, this action was abandoned. However, they still wanted to play with deception further, so they always found a place for the Skrulls.
