The talented agencies that signed the WGA's new code of conduct are not inundated with calls from writers seeking a new representation now that the guild has ordered them to fire their agents who refuse to sign. The deadline reached many of the code's 48 agencies and asked them if they received calls from writers who had fired their agents on the first business day since the code came into effect.

"I have certainly received some phone calls from writers who have fired their agents," said Michael Lewis of Lewis & Associates.

"I did not do it," said Victoria Sanders, owner of the Victoria Sanders Literary Agency, based in Stone Ridge, NY. "I represent writers and novelists. I am a signatory of the WGA. Some clients are members, but I am not a film or television agent. I use co-agents. I am very satisfied with my co-agents at WME. They are excellent. WME is one of the major agencies that refused to sign the Code (read the list here).

"I am semi-retired and represent only a few clients," said another officer, who asked not to be identified. She said she signed the code "as an act of solidarity, because I believe in what the guild does."

Another local agent who signed the code said he had not received any calls from writers who had fired their agents. "Not one," he said. "Zero, none."

Another signatory said, "We do not really represent writers. We have a license for the drafting of agreements, but that is case by case. "

Sue Giordano, who works in partnership with her husband at the Hudson Agency in Montrose, NY, said that if writers called, "I will not take them anyway. I am at the end of my career. If it's someone who has credits, I consider them. But we work mostly in children's animation. "

"I am a signatory of the WGA, so I have just made a comeback," said Giordano.

In terms of representing the special list writers who fired their agents, she said, "I am absolutely not in this league. My husband and I are laughing at our buttocks right now.

Constable Gregory David Mayo said he had not received any calls yet. "Not at the moment, but it's still too early," he said. "It's a complicated situation and I hope everything will be solved."

An agent in Las Vegas said he had not received any calls from writers but had received "two emails from writers recognized last week".

To date, only one agency represented by ATA – Pantheon – has broken ranks and signed the guild code.
