Wuhan, the Chinese industrial city where the coronavirus was first detected, has largely returned to normal as the rest of the world battles the pandemic.

Last week, residents of the city of 11 million people jogged and practiced tai chi in a park, many without face shields.

Wuhan has been responsible for most of the 4,635 deaths in China, but has not experienced epidemics since the lockdown was lifted in April, according to the Associated Press.

China has announced 107 more cases of the coronavirus, bringing its total number of infections to nearly 89,000 since the start of the pandemic. More than two million people around the world have died from COVID-19, according to the latest statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

After lengthy negotiations, China last week authorized the World Health Organization to send a team of international experts to begin investigations into the origins of the virus. A group of experts linked to the WHO criticized China for not reacting quickly enough to deal with the pandemic.
