A confrontation that was looming even as the challenger was on hold, The Man had to face The Boss on Sun., Sept. 15 in Charlotte, NC, at Clash of Champions.
The blue-haired challenger came in first. Sasha Banks was quick to enter the ring with the Black Women's Champion, who started shouting boasters in the direction of Becky Lynch. Immediately after the bell, The Man responded with a slap in The Boss's face.
It was not long after Lynch went to get his final presentation, the Dis-Arm-Her. And when Banks pulled herself together, Becky threw her down …
… then jumped down the stairs with a handful of axes. Trying to find something out of the top rope gave Sasha an opening to take control, though.
A host of kicks and a meteorite were major assets for The Boss, as the crowd at the Spectrum Center discussed who to support before committing (for the most part) to the champion. Lynch responded to a top rope maneuver with a dropkick to return to the game.
They came and went, with nearby falls for these two Horsewomen. Another meteorite at the top had a big advantage for Sasha, and the sending shot earned him howls. Lynch trapped the challenger in the middle of the ring and slapped his armband, but Banks had a toe on the bottom rope. A tally of two after a dropkick missile left The Man as frustrated as the Boss had been a few moments before.
A pair of stabbing followed, and a suspenseful statement Banks. Then, Sasha channeled her hero Eddie Guerrero, distracting the referee with a chair so that she could hit Becky in the middle of the section with another, but Lynch was kicked out after a brilliant wizard.
The Boss was so upset that she was ready to take a chair and get disqualified, but the umpire stopped her. The champion took the chair and eventually hit the official.
The two women fought in the stands and Lynch chased her to the lobby. The Man covered the challenger with condiments. They fought to the ring and it was not at all clear that the match was over … but then the advertisers informed us that Becky was disqualified, and that's it.
Not quite that, because then The Man went to town …
