By the end of this professional wrestling weekend, WWE wants to prove that it is still at the top of the mountain in terms of sports entertainment with the Extreme Rules Live Payout from Philadelphia on Sunday night. After a few last-minute additions, all of the company's major championships will be played over a bailed-out 12-game card starting at 7 pm HE (show kick off an hour earlier) and can go late at night.
It's important that WWE hosts a good Sunday show, which is perhaps even more essential is the company that is heading to SummerSlam, its second-largest pay-per-view card of the year. With just four weeks before SummerSlam – and the new executive directors supporting its TV shows this week – WWE needs to find ways to improve its creative focus while hosting a high-quality event.

Summary of WWE Extreme Rules 2019, grades
Intercontinental Championship – Shinsuke Nakamura def. Finn Balor (c) via pinfall to win the title (Kickoff Show): Just as Nakamura did in his victory over Balor, the champion used the barriers of the ring to face the challenger. The fight started slowly but was resumed late when Nakamura hit Balor – sitting on the second rope – with a sliding powerbomb. Balor bounced with a double step and Nakamura in the corner. However, when Balor came forward to the coup de grace, Nakamura dodged and punched Balor with a Kinshasa on the back of his head, then another in front of his face.
This represents consecutive defeats for Balor against Nakamura and what looks like a hasty title change considering that this match was only booked a few hours before Extreme Rules and was suddenly found in the # 39, kick-show broadcast. (That could have been on the main SummerSlam map!) Maybe we will have a revenge if the WWE decides to follow the path of the Balor-Lashley feud by removing the title of the popular Balor only to win it back at 39. one of the biggest shows of the company of the year. It was not as special as it could have been due to the booking and placement of the card. Nakamura is the third man to hold the intercontinental titles WWE and NJPW (MVP, Chris Jericho). Grade: C +
Cruiserweight Championship – Drew Gulak (c) def. Tony Nese via pinfall to keep the title (Kickoff Show): Nese did not perform well, but he hit Gulak, who was suspended between the middle ropes on the circular apron. The challenger followed with an extremely impressive 450 – putting his knees down in Gulak's chest for a tally of two. Once recovered, Gulak hit Nese with an electric bomb and a Crash cyclone for 1-2-3. It would not have been fair to expect much from Gulak after his war with Matt Riddle on Saturday night, but that was not up to previous heavyweight showcase games. Grade: C
Roman Reigns and The Undertaker v Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre (strike): This match will open the show.
