WWE Extreme Rules 2021 Predictions

[ad_1]

WWE Extreme rules is set to take place tonight (Sun September 26, 2021) from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. It starts at 7 p.m. ET with the launch show leading straight to the main course at 8 p.m. ET on Peacock in the US, the WWE Network everywhere else, or your local pay-per-view provider.

Lucky for you, the Cagesiders, our team of wrestling scholars are here to help you understand how the event is going to play out with predictions for every match on the map.

Let’s go.

WWE EXTREME RULES PREDICTIONS

Roman Reigns vs. the demon

Geno Mrosko: I wish I could find a creative way to pretend Balor has a real chance here, but the mental gymnastics required to come to such a conclusion would be way too exhausting. Pick: Roman Reigns

Sean Rueter: Wait. I know this one. Choice: Roman reigns

Kyle decker: The stipulation of the Extreme Rules may allow them to protect Bálor a bit, but it also means that there must be a winner. And there’s no way it’s Finn Bálor. Pick: Roman Reigns

Claire Elisabeth: Roman Reigns is going to kick the demon in his cock and take his lunch money, easy. Choice: Roman reigns

Cain A. Chevalier: The most important game for Roman is next month against The Beast in Saudi Arabia, so he is not beaten in this warm-up match against The Demon. Pick: Roman Reigns

Cheeks Stella: It’s cute that they’re trying to make The Demon intimidating again, but the ship on the intimidating “otherworldly” figures of WWE has sailed. Choice: Roman reigns

Marcus Benjamin: Do you remember when The Demon was a thing? Of course you do. Do you know who doesn’t? WWE: Roman Reign

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair

Geno Mrosko: I actually think they’re going straight back to Belair here, and that’s because they’re going to move Lynch and Seth Rollins to Monday evening gross in the draft. Pick: Bianca Belair

Sean Rueter: While I think (probably foolishly) that Belair will eventually get his win, and probably even his title back, back … I don’t think that’s happening right away. Pick: Becky Lynch

Kyle Decker: They did a really good job putting this in place after some understandable doubts after Slam summer. Bianca Belair held on against The Man. It would be surprising if they put the belt on Becky just to immediately return it to Belair. This not being an Extreme Rules stipulation match, they might do a DQ or count to prevent a title change. Given that they want to protect Bianca and possibly expand this feud, I think Belair wins this match in one of those ways that doesn’t give him the gold. Plus, it’s like WWE having a DQ finish on a PPV named Extreme rules. Pick: Bianca Belair

Claire Elisabeth: Well Becky is definitely not going to lose the title here, not after winning it in less than a minute. She’ll be arrogant early on, Belair will win and push her to her limit, then Lynch will have to cut some sort of wedge to win and retain the title and cement her heel. Pick: Becky Lynch

Cain A. Chevalier: Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair at Survivor Series is probably too tempting for Vince McMahon to resist. But if he pursues a different direction, it won’t be Becky’s fault, as she won’t drop that title in the near future. Pick: Becky Lynch

Cheeks Stella: I think it’s time for some hot potato action with the SmackDown belt. There was absolutely no reason for Becky to win when she came back this way. So return the belt to Bianca and let’s start a feud through Mania! We are late for a long program in the women’s division. Pick: Bianca Belair

Marcus Benjamin: If I had what I wanted, Bianca Belair would win this game and all the others. But, like my mom used to tell me a long time ago, I can’t get what you want all the time, little boy. Color shocked me that they managed the Becky Lynch heel turn to this degree. She and Bianca are both really nuts in their roles and told a great story leading up to the big game. Bianca will have another chance, but tonight belongs to The Man: Becky Lynch

Charlotte Flair vs. Alexa Bliss

Geno Mrosko: I hesitate to bet against Flair on PPV but Vince McMahon seems to really enjoy this Bliss / Lilly thing. Guess it’s good for the merchandise? I do not know. This one looks more like a throw than you might think. Screw. Pick: Alexa Bliss

Sean Rueter: You cannot win the title a 13th time if your 12th reign does not end. Also, I think the few rules we have for the Firefly fun house Alexa’s Playground verse dictates that the Queen must pay to destroy a doll. Pick: Alexa Bliss

Kyle Decker: Two of the most reserved women who face each other make a difficult choice. When in doubt, fall back on the “Never bet against Charlotte Flair” rule. Pick: Charlotte Flair

Claire Elisabeth: We will never find out who Charlotte Flair is without the title because she will never be without it long enough to begin introspection. Pick: Charlotte Flair

Cain A. Chevalier: I don’t expect Flair to be afraid of dolls like Shayna Baszler, so I guess she will keep the gold. But the numbers say that Charlotte’s games are often the hardest to predict, so who knows? Pick: Charlotte Flair

Cheeks Stella: Do I look stupid to you? Charlotte Flair doesn’t lose against a nutcase who plays with dolls. Pick: Charlotte Flair

Marcus Benjamin: I love this story — and I may be one of the few — although sometimes it’s a little too meta. Who is Charlotte Flair when she is not a champion? Is Alexa Bliss hiding behind the deception because of her insecurities? Obviously the game won’t reveal any of that, but it’s the kind of psychological thing that excites me. And accordingly, I go with the challenger. Pick: Alexa Bliss

Damian Priest vs. Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy

Geno Mrosko: I, like Decker, fill in this after Cain puts his in and I, like Decker, just refer you to his prediction. Pick: Damian Priest

Sean Rueter: I will continue to hope that WWE gives Charismatic Enigma one last chance until he leaves the company. I will probably be disappointed, but it has never stopped me before. Pick: Jeff Hardy

Kyle Decker: See Cain’s prediction. Pick: Damian Priest

Claire Elisabeth: What hell am I sandwiched between? The boys are disgusting. Either way, Priest is one of the few always pleasant things about Raw and taking the title away would be a shame. Pick: Damian Priest

Cain A. Chevalier: Jeff Hardy and Sheamus spray each other in Hardy’s urine, then Priest sneaks in for the win. Pick: Damian Priest

Cheeks Stella: Just give it to Jeff Hardy. At least his face paint is cool. Pick: Jeff Hardy

Marcus Benjamin: Jeff Hardy makes this at least semi-interesting. And because of that, let’s give it the title. Costs? Costs. Pick: Jeff Hardy

Usos against street profits

Geno Mrosko: I don’t really see them making a title change for something they barely built while teasing a program with Otis & Gable. Choice: Les Usos

Sean Rueter: Look, all I care about is how to come up with a New Day vs Bloodline match that’s at least twice as long as the one we had last Monday. Whether or not Jimmy & Jey have titles doesn’t really impact that. Choice: Street profits

Kyle Decker: It could go either way, but I think they ride the Bloodline with the gold for a bit longer. Choice: Les Usos

Claire Elisabeth: Considering that the last notable plot point in this feud was Mount Ford calling the Usos “Bloodline bitches” and making him beat hell, I kinda think there’s a title change ahead. Choice: Street profits

Cain A. Chevalier: Might as well change the titles here and give the public something to celebrate. Usos can always win them back on Smack down or Saudi Arabia. Choice: Street profits

Cheeks Stella: The Bloodline is more interesting when there is tension between Roman and the Usos. If the Usos lose here, Roman must worry about the reputation of the Beast and his family. Plus, street profits are on the rise! I’m not betting against the numbers. Choice: Street profits

Marcus Benjamin: It’s my match of the night. There are more stories in The Uso’s pursuit of titles to please their cousin than of holding the titles as soldiers covered in gold. Plus, if Roman makes it to Raw, look for his family to follow. Choice: Street profits.

Liv Morgan vs. Carmella

Geno Mrosko: They’ve teased a legitimate push for Morgan too many times to count at this point, but I’m a sucker, so I’m going to crack it again. Pick: Liv Morgan

Sean Rueter: Will they really push Liv past the mid-map? I mean, it’s not like Mella is going anywhere either, but they might want to get her out of the schneid before she and Zelina are fed a babyface tag team. So, I think we’re going to do the “wait and see” thing with Morgan for a little bit longer. Choice: Carmella

Kyle Decker: With no real stakes for this game, it’s a good time to build Liv Morgan as we keep hearing they want. Pick: Liv Morgan

Claire Elisabeth: Liv is obviously very talented and they continue to hesitate to make her a focal point of the division, and maybe now it’s finally happening. Pick: Liv Morgan

Cain A. Chevalier: Carmella has lost virtually all of her most important games since returning with this new gadget at the end of 2020, so I’ll stay with that trend. Pick: Liv Morgan

Cheeks Stella: They fired his two tag partners. It’s time to show us why they kept Liv Morgan. She’s definitely got the wrestling chops, they just need to give her a nudge in the right direction. Pick: Liv Morgan

Marcus Benjamin: Let’s go with Liv Morgan. Carmella is on a losing streak the Detroit Lions from a few years ago would envy. Pick: Liv Morgan

This is how we see the card playing out.

You?
