WWE NXT closes the ratings gap with AEW Dynamite this week

Last night’s AEW Dynamite on TNT averaged 700,000 viewers, down 7.5% from last week. This is Dynamite’s second lowest total viewership since June of last year.

On the US network, WWE NXT averaged 654,000 viewers, down 3.5% from last week.

The biggest news was in the 18-49 demo. Dynamite was seventh on the cable with odds of 0.26. This represents a 13.3% drop from the previous week and is also the second lowest number Dynamite has made since June of last year. NXT, however, rose 50% in the 18-49 demo, scoring 0.21. NXT finished 12th on cable in the demo, which is the highest since Dynamite started.

The combined Wednesday night audience was 1.354 million viewers, the lowest since February 10 and down 5.6% from last week. The combined number of ages 18 to 49, boosted by the increase in NXT, increased 6.8%, totaling 0.47.

The individual demo numbers were much closer than usual. NXT won with the women 18 to 49, scoring 0.16-0.15 from Dynamite. In the men’s 18 to 49, Dynamite scored a big win with odds of 0.38 versus 0.25 for NXT. It was Dynamite’s strongest category, with a fourth place on the cable.

NXT won the demo 18-34 with a 0.13-0.12 rating from Dynamite. Breaking this down by gender, Dynamite won with women (0.09 to 0.07), but NXT won with men (0.13 to 0.11).

Dynamite won with people aged 25 to 54 (0.31 to 0.22). NXT won with people over 50 but with a much closer margin than usual (0.32 to 0.29).

Both shows were up in year-over-year comparisons. Dynamite increased by 2.2% in total viewers and 4% among 18-49 year olds. NXT grew 10.9% of total viewers and 40% among 18-49 year olds.
