WWE Results SmackDown Live, recap, reactions (April 30, 2019): Flowing or swimming

[ad_1]

After New Day lost Big E to injury, Kevin Owens took his chance. And now, a week after a new betrayal of friendship, he also removed Xavier Woods from the equation. Kofi Kingston will have to sink or swim alone.

And that's how we started this show. Michael Cole, for some reason, was interviewing Kingston in the ring and seeing everything. We had another series of "Hey man, congratulations on achieving your dream!", What … I mean, 3 weeks ago WrestleMania. At some point, this material gets old and I give it.

I loved Kofi's explanation of KO acceptance in their group. He said that they were maybe fools, but that they were willing to fools. The New Day believes that people should have the opportunity to change for the better. And it sucks that KO has taken this route because all he had to do to get the title was to ask.

Owens broke off at that moment to say that he thought Kofi was above his head and was drowning in that position. Xavier Woods, obviously still less than 100% of last week, ate a Superkick when Owens ran away.

We had two other segments of this quarrel all night and the one behind the scenes between Kofi and Xavier could have been the most interesting. Xavier seemed almost afraid to let his friend go alone. However, Kofi is confident and does not want his friends to put their health at risk, not even for the first title. It's a touching moment and a good thing to say to Kofi.

And he saved it too. While Owens was talking nonsense to end the show, Kofi discreetly entered the arena to watch the challenger on the floor before charging Owens to force him to flee. Owens may be talking about drowning and trying to make Kofi doubt himself, but it clearly does not work.

So it's good! It is not a revolutionary or revolutionary moment, but it is solid. I'd like to see what tact Owens then tries to put in Kofi's head.

Competitors of SmackDown's MITB ladder match

SDL has the same treatment as Raw for MITB, but the game is much more impressive for this brand. Finn Balor and Ali against Randy Orton and Andrade? Sign me up!

What was most remarkable about it is that Andrade chanted Randy Orton before the match. Andrade said that he did not respect any of the other two men, but that his arrogance was perhaps even greater towards Orton. Andrade recognized Orton's many world titles before saying "identify me if you want to learn something".

Needless to say, Orton was not amused.

The match was quite short but it was still very entertaining. Balor and Ali dive on either side of the ring was fun. The only thing that bothers me is that they did not respond to Andrade's request. Zelina Vega was on the edge of help to help her get ahead of Balor, but that did not really help El Idolo. He ended up making 450 Ali splash and suffered from the pin fall. If he says things like that, they should at least give us more if he wants to eat a pin.

Orton hit Balor with an RKO second because he is Orton and that's what he does. Ali ran on his heels to stand up.

The rest

Becky Lynch def. Bayley – Very fun match and first game of the week, I actively sat down and enjoyed. I like the way Bayley has had this little story, or at least a story that follows from it. She tries to fend for herself without Sasha and she has brought a new advantage to try to reach the peaks of people with whom she was equal, like Lynch and Charlotte. If done right, I could really start digging it too.

Becky won by countering Bayley's elbow drop but was attacked by Charlotte afterwards. The message not at all subtle is "BUT CAN I HANDLE TWO OPPONENTS IN ONE NIGHT ?!"

Roman Reigns def. Team B – Someone with Roman's expression when Elias strummed his guitar. Use it generously in the comments as well, please.

I liked the Roman promo very much. He hit Vince because he wanted to make a point and an impression on the new brand, and the truth is that he could have hit anyone. He was just going in and knocking Someone & # 39; a.

It's good!

The quick return to "The Big Dog" schtick and "This is my yard", though? I am not a fan. It's a man who told us all his heart about a real situation and going back seems simply dishonest. And that does not mean that everything has to leave … you just have to change a little.

Whatever it is, it was a ridiculous amusement. It was really funny, but Roman has nothing else to do.

A new promo Aleister Black – It's only been two weeks, but I still appreciate what Black does with these promos. He called fear a "tool", which is interesting because it means that it is something he is intentionally cultivating. He said that fear paralyzed his opponents and implied that he was using it to defeat his opponents.

There were cool pictures and I really like the subtle things that Aleister does in these promos. It's completely silent, except for his voice, with that "abyss" of black behind him. His flickering gaze around the room is neat too. My only problem is that the end result is not really apparent. As long as they lead this into a quarrel that complements these promos, it should be fine.

Hardy Boyz give up titles, Lars Sullivan still my jam – IIt seems almost inevitable for the Hardys at this stage of their career and it sucks really, really. That said, I really like the way they used Jeff's injury to help build one of their healthy superstars to Lars Sullivan.

Lars obliterated Matt Hardy before turning to Jeff who was doing his best to get out of the ring. And there was a moment when I wondered if Jeff was even able to take a bump for now and if they had really let Lars hit him with something. Instead, R-Truth tried to slow Lars down with a chair. Instead, Lars hit the chair and destroyed R-Truth again.

My problem is that although Lars is entertaining and certainly plays the role of the monster, there is no real plot in what he does. When will he go after a bigger name, for example? When will we have motives or an intention? We certainly do not need it yet, but it's the next step he needs to get it right.

The candidates of SmackDown Women's MITB – Ember Moon, Camella, Bayley, Mandy Rose. It did not really take a lot of time, aside from a little backstage promotion before the main event that was … eh.

Kairi Sane and Askua def. Local talent – The musical mashup is a bit strange and Corey's "Sue Mac" joke made me moan. Beyond, it was ok, I suppose.

Mandy Rose does not deserve Sonya Deville – Deville understood Rose's silly trick and still had the kindness to give Rose the place of the match. Rose does not even deserve to earn Deville in her corner.

This show was definitely better than Raw, but I still feel that everything is just … okay? Nothing is really clicking and making me invest. And rereading my comment, I can see many times that I ask more than what we get. From almost every story, frankly.

Grade: C +

Sounds good, Cageside?
