The crowning glory tournaments began in the first season of WWE SmackDown. The October 8 edition of Friday Night SmackDown not only had the first matches of the King of the Ring tournament, but also the first matches of the very first Queen’s Crown tournament.
Everything was aimed at Crown Jewel, including one of the biggest matches WWE SmackDown could put on. Becky Lynch put her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. The three women would sign the contract for this match at SmackDown.
In the first few games of the Queen’s Crown tournament, Liv Morgan sought to end her rivalry with Carmella and begin a journey to her first major title. Zelina Vega sought to defeat SmackDown newcomer Toni Storm in the tournament.
After repeatedly defeating Dominik Mysterio, Sami Zayn attempted to turn Rey Mysterio’s son against the luchador. The 619 master sought to stop this and advance into the King of the Ring tournament at SmackDown. Finn Balor fought Cesaro in a battle of top competitors in search of a major title.
This show only had a few big moments promised, but with two tournaments and plenty to build ahead of Crown Jewel, there was a lot to look forward to, especially following Roman Reigns’ status as the No.1 star on SmackDown after the draft. from WWE.

Bianca Belair held the ring while signing her contract. Becky Lynch had her own table on the ramp. Sasha Banks stood confidently on the announcers table. Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce tried to stay in control, but the action quickly ended.
The three women entered the ring to brawl. EST threw The Legit Boss on the table and then hit the KOD on The Man through Banks and the table.
Later that night, Lynch finally signed the contract for her title match, although she was not happy with it.

Analysis
It was short and to the point. The three women have had their say, and Belair has garnered some revenge against the women who have exposed her in recent weeks. It was a good heat up for the Crown Jewel match, which might be the show stealer of the night.
In the end, everyone involved has already said their word about this game. It’s hard to imagine that there is much more to be gained with segments like this. It’s time to go to the game.

Dominik Mysterio told Rey Mysterio he should stay in the back. Sami Zayn told Dominik he was better than his father. As The Great Liberator defeated the Master of the 619, Dominik finally made his way to the ring.
Rey hit a code red to get back into the action. As the 619 master ran towards his finisher, Zayn dodged him and hit the Blue Thunder bomb. Zayn lowered the tensioner, forcing Dominik to step in to fix it.
In the chaos, Zayn threw Rey into Dominik and then wound up the Legend for a count of three.
Results
Zayn def. Mysterio by pinfall to qualify for the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament.

B
Analysis
It was a solid game, although it went slower than expected. Zayn took advantage of his own mind games, setting up Dominik to stand in the way of his father’s candidacy for the King of the Ring.
Considering that the Mysterios are heading to Raw soon in two weeks, it’s important that this story comes to a natural conclusion. It will be important for Dominik to find his way on his own and earn his father’s respect beyond Zayn’s influence.
The Grand Liberator advances to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament. He’s unlikely to make the final, but it would be exciting to see him finally get his due.

Ahead of her match, Zelina Vega and Toni Storm promised they would win the Queen’s Crown tournament.
This match ended shortly after its start. As Storm attempted a demotion she had to spend in a gory bomb, Vega used the momentary change to hit a code red for victory.

Vega def. Storm by fall to qualify for the semi-finals of the Queen’s Crown tournament.

Analysis
Storm and Vega have struggled before and none of their matches have achieved much so far due to the time they have been given. Storm has all the talent in the world to have a competitive match against anyone, but she hasn’t been able to show it at all.
Meanwhile, Vega is finally getting some wins after an embarrassing losing streak upon returning to WWE. Although it has been used regularly, SmackDown has not shown enough confidence here to transport matches.
If this Queen’s Crown tournament is going to be anything, it is important that the match has an impact. Each women’s match should be equal to the men’s time.

Roman Reigns praised Paul Heyman for bringing The Usos to SmackDown. However, he wanted the truth from his special advocate. Heyman twisted the account to explain that he believed in Reigns and knew he would beat Brock Lesnar.
The chef de table asked Heyman to tell the incarnate beast that he would lose. Heyman did just that, making it clear to Lesnar that he would fail in his challenge against the WWE Universal Champion.

Analysis
It was a fantastic promo, especially from Heyman. He leaned into clichés for a while as a speaker because it works for crowd control. However, it can also lighten the weight of his words in the biggest moments.
Fortunately, The Special Counsel is good enough to use their own shots to their advantage. His message to Lesnar worked because it was clear how much he meant it. He gave Lesnar a message that could get him into serious trouble with The Beast Incarnate.
It should be interesting to see what the fallout is for this moment as long as Lesnar sees the message. He noted before watching TV.

Mace explained in an interview that he was ready to dominate anyone when he joined the Blue Mark alone.
Before the game, Carmella made sure her protective mask was applied to protect her source of money. Liv Morgan tied The World’s Most Beautiful Woman to the bell, but Carmella caught her in Code of Silence for an almost tap-out.
Morgan fought back with a one-knee facebuster that nearly took the win, but Carmella stepped on the rope. The most beautiful woman in the world ended her match with a low superkick.

Carmella def. Morgan by pinfall to qualify for the semi-finals of the Queen’s Crown tournament.

Analysis
He’s honestly crazy how disrespectful SmackDown has been with their women’s division outside of the Untouchable Stars. We have the impression that we are once again on the verge of a movement “to give women a chance”. It didn’t even last two minutes.
It was clear from the get-go that the women were rushing given how quickly they went for their signature moves. However, it was even worse than expected. This possible quarrel was short without reason.
Morgan vs. Carmella lost so much momentum quickly, and the primary focus, putting on Morgan, has already failed. It would have made perfect sense to have a race in the Queen’s Crown Tournament. Instead, Carmella v Zelina Vega next week could be three minutes long if they’re lucky.

Naomi asked why she wasn’t in the Queen’s Crown tournament. Sonya Deville has made it clear that she doesn’t feel worthy of Naomi. She booked The Glow for a game next week against herself.
Finn Balor came out aggressive, but Cesaro sent him outside with a pop-up uppercut. The strength of The Swiss Cyborg continued to dominate the action until he took on a vicious Slingblade.
The Prince went to the third rope for the double stomp, but Cesaro met him there. He bred The Prince for a straight superplex in a crossface. Balor fought and sent him the shoulder first into the post, followed by a plancha somersault and dropkick corner to set up the knockout and win.

Balor def. Cesaro fell to advance in the King of the Ring tournament.

B +
Analysis
As always, Balor and Cesaro deliver. Two of the best wrestlers in WWE right now, they brought him into a match that felt more than it would have been worth the final and not a quarterfinal.
It’s a shame that The Swiss Cyborg gets knocked out after one round. He’s the perfect wrestler for the King of the Ring tournament with his stamina and unwavering strength. While this helped the Prince win, Cesaro didn’t have to face Balor in the first round.
Balor is very likely to defeat Zayn like he has in the past, making the Prince the real favorite to win the tournament at this point. It might be a good time to warm up Balor after his loss to Roman Reigns.

Seth Rollins has denied going too far in his actions with Edge. He demanded an answer to his Superstar Rated-R challenge. The Drip God told Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce that he would cause trouble for SmackDown if Edge didn’t show up by the end of the night.
The Drip God mocked the Rated-R Superstar on several occasions, expecting him not to show up. However, the titantron showed Edge arriving, and he walked towards the ring. He tossed Rollins several times, then went for the steel chair leg to stifle his rival.
Rollins ducked for safety. Edge grabbed a microphone and named the stipulation for their last game: Hell in a Cell.

Analysis
Rollins vs. Edge hit a fever pitch in the last month in particular. It’s a story as strong as the one WWE is telling right now. It’s personal, and every game is better than the last. The two competed against each other at the highest level to deliver the best possible product.
Hell in a Cell is meant for rivalries like this. It will be fun to see what Rollins and Edge can do together in this structure. Messiah has a turbulent history in the Cell, but much of it is out of his hands. This could be one of the best men’s HIAC matches in years.
