Xbox OS update means Game Pass members can preload new games

[ad_1]

Xbox Game Pass members can preinstall select games before they launch on the subscription service, with the Xbox Console Update rolled out to Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Series S starting today .

The usual November dashboard update, arriving on the last day of the month, brings additional functionality to all three consoles. Notably, it adds an Auto HDR tag (to a paused screen when players open the guide) to notify gamers when this feature is active and working. Likewise, games optimized for Xbox Series X and Series S will have this badge on their icons, in the Games and Full Library tabs in the My Games & Apps section. The filter can also be adjusted to show only games optimized for the X and S series.

The update also adds six more dynamic backgrounds, which debuted earlier this month on all three consoles. Microsoft says some of this track record is “homage to previous generations of Xbox consoles” while others are “based on popular profile themes.”

For upcoming preloaded Game Pass games, Microsoft notes that not all games in this section will have pre-install capabilities. That said, the Game Pass mobile app allows gamers to configure their download to start the minute it’s available on game launch day.

Xbox Wire has more details. Xbox Series X and Series S launched on November 10.
