Google has understood and accelerates the revolution of streaming with Stadia, an ambitious service that promises to run any game on any device at a speed of up to 4,000 and 60 images per second, with plans to eventually reach 8,000 streams. Stadia enters concert in November.
Microsoft is taking things more slowly. At the beginning of this generation of consoles, the streaming was too hard and it was slowed, which allowed the PlayStation 4 to sell better than the Xbox One by a factor of two. Today, Microsoft is deliberately testing its own streaming service, xCloud, starting with a beta version of the local streaming component of the console in October.
Players can now be ready for streaming, but the infrastructure is still catching up.
"We are not coming and do not try to tell people to stop doing what they 've done before and to adopt streaming today, that' s it. the only way to play, "said Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox, after being removed from the scene at E3. There, he unveiled Project Scarlett, the next Xbox console, which is scheduled to launch for the 2020 holiday. Scarlett will support the 8K format (although no game currently is), 120 frames per second, SSD disk storage and real-time ray tracing, a staple of the next generation.
