XFL unveils the names and logos of its eight teams

The XFL revealed the names and logos of its eight teams Wednesday, a long-awaited milestone for its debut in February 2020.

The names will be:

  • Dallas Renegades

  • Houston Roughnecks

  • Wildcats of Los Angeles

  • New York Guardians

  • BattleHawks of St. Louis

  • Seattle Dragons

  • Tampa Bay Vipers

  • Washington Defenders

The XFL has spent the last two years determining the location of teams, signing stadium agreements and recruiting head coaches. His teams will play in a combination of NFL, MLB and MLS facilities. The league office sent hundreds of invitations to the pool to potential players and announced last month its first signing: veteran quarterry Landry Jones.

The next step will be to finalize and publish a rule that, according to the league, will offer a reinvented football game, with unique extra points, a modified configuration for extra time and a shorter timer to speed up the tempo.

A draft is planned for October, followed by a mini camp in December and a training camp in January 2020.
