The world's best-selling Android One series is about to enter its third generation and, before the official announcement, press images of the standard Xiaomi Mi A3 have been published online, accompanied by 39, a fairly detailed technical sheet.
Front redesigned and an additional camera at the back
Xiaomi's new phone, which is a pretty important upgrade to the lineup, drops the 18-inch, 18-inch display used on the Mi A2 from last year to a notched panel of the same size. No high resolution upgrades are planned – Xiaomi would be content with a Full-HD + resolution of 2240 x 1080p – but the display is apparently an AMOLED panel rather than a screen LCD.
Like the Mi A2 series, the next generation Mi-generation should feature a vertical camera module at the back. This time, however, it will add a third camera instead of the LED flash and place it directly under the configuration. The main sensor should be a 48-megapixel shooter, while the second and third cameras will offer respectively 8 megapixel and 2 megapixel resolutions. Unfortunately, the functionality of these other cameras has not yet been revealed.

On some final notes regarding the back of the phone, Xiaomi seems to have replaced the aluminum construction used in previous years with a superior glass construction. The "Mi" brand of the company has also been replaced by its own name and the entire logo has been moved to the lower corner and positioned vertically. Similarly, the Android One logo is now in the opposite and vertical.
Finally, as you may have noticed with press leaks, the Xiaomi Mi A3 does not include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This is because a new integrated fingerprint sensor has replaced it.
Xiaomi Mi A3 specifications and release date
The rather major external upgrades are accompanied by some rather decent improvements of interns. Specifically, the Xiaomi Mi A3 would replace the Snapdragon 660 used in last year's model by the most powerful Snapdragon 665 announced last April. The chip must be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable internal storage.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 will ship with Android 9 Pie immediately as part of the Android One program, but should receive an update for Android 10 Q by the end of this year. On a separate note, the smartphone would include a 4000 mAh battery, fast support via USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi has already started teasing the Mi A3 on social media and has announced that the new smartphone will be coming soon. The device is expected to be available for sale by the beginning of August in most European markets and will be sold in black, blue and white. According to rumors, the smartphone will be accompanied by a slightly more powerful brother, powered by the Snapdragon 730 from Qualcomm and potentially marketed under the name of Mi A3 Pro. Separate reports, however, suggest that this last point does not happen and Xiaomi is instead working on a cheaper version called Mi A3 Lite. But as we know so little about the moment, the true projects of the company remain largely a mystery.
