Sega brings Judgment, the murder mystery action-adventure from his team Yakuza, on PlayStation 5, Stadia and Xbox Series X on April 23. The remastered version of Judgment will include polished visuals, a 60fps frame rate, and improved load times, Sega says – plus it includes all previously released DLC. Sega’s reissue of Judgment will cost $ 39.99.

Judgment was originally released exclusively for PlayStation 4. Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio first launched the game in Japan, with a worldwide release in June 2019.

A spin-off of the Yakuza series, Judgment stars Takayuki Yagami, a disgraced lawyer turned grizzled private investigator who tries to solve the mystery behind a series of murders. Former yakuza Masaharu Kaito joins him in his quest. The duo explore the undergrounds of Kamurocho and fight their criminal element in search of the truth. Like the Yakuza games, expect plenty of street fighting – but also investigative gameplay, side missions, and mini-games.

In our review of the game, we praised Judgment for building something new on the familiar gameplay structure of the Yakuza series. “It doesn’t stray from its roots – it’s still a police drama with a lot of punches – but it fills the history of the city and its people in a way that is not possible from of a game focused solely on the underworld, ”we told me. “It’s the same city, just seen from a very different perspective.”
