Yankees 6, Orioles 1: This is the Luis Cessa we were waiting for

The Yankees went to Sarasota to face the Orioles tonight. Luis Cessa must have heard Aaron Boone say that Domingo German and Jonathan Loaisiga could both start the season in the rotation. He brought his game "A" tonight when the Bombers defeated the Orioles 6-1.

Here are three takeaways from the game:

1. Cessa had a great night, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He gave up one shot – one – and did not impose himself. Good for him. It would be nice to see Loaisiga and the German do the same.

2. The competition on the left field that we were hoping for did not give anything. The Yankees have already locked Brett Gardner, and he had a very hot start to the season this spring. Meanwhile, Clint Frazier took part in today's game with only three hits on more than 18 goals. He knocked out, came out, sank, and sank into a double game today. At least he is in good health.

3. Speaking of spring training competitions, it looks like Tommy Kahnle will win the last place in the paddock. The Scranton Shuttle should be in good condition, however. Left-handers Stephen Tarpley and Phillip Diehl both made a good start this spring. The first started a scoreless draw with a strikeout tonight, while the second put two strikeouts in 1.1.

Tomorrow is another day of division. Half of the team will face the Tigers in Lakeland at 1:05 ET. Nestor Cortes will begin this game. The rest of the Yankees will face the Pirates at home at 1:05 ET with J.A. Happ is ready to take the mound.
