NEW YORK – A mysterious flashing light near the batter’s eye in the middle of the field made Yankees manager Aaron Boone shrug.
Red Sox wide receiver Christian Vazquez called the time-out to signal the flashing light during DJ LeMahieu’s seventh inning at bat in the Yankees’ 9-1 win at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night.
“I didn’t get the full explanation so I have no idea,” Boone told reporters.

LeMahieu’s beat ended in a steal to right field, but memories of baseball’s not-so-distant past of cheating scandals then came to the fore on social media.
Boston manager Alex Cora told reporters he wasn’t concerned about the light, whatever it was.
“It was a light, like a projector, coming from above the monuments [in center field]Cora said. “They have the windows. There was a red light flashing between the pitches. Then it was white. But okay, to be honest with you. But (Vazquez) has it right away. noticed in LeMahieu’s sequence.
Stadium security was seen in the area shortly after Vazquez reported it.
“They said a red light was what they saw somewhere in the batter’s eye,” Boone said. “Gary (Sanchez) said something about it and that it happened to him when he was catching too. I didn’t even know where it was coming from, but they said there was a red light flashing up there.
