Yankees acquire Kendrys Morales in exchange with A's | What this means

The Yankees have traded their American football player Kendrys Morales against Oakland Athletics in exchange for a player who will be named later or a cash payday on Tuesday.

The first baseman and the designated hitter were designated to be assigned by the A on Monday. He struggled in his only season at Oakland, hitting .204 with 22 hits on 108 batting. He had a home run and seven RBIs.

To give way to Morales in the lineup of 40 players, the Yankees transferred starting pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga to the 60-day IL.

The Yankees are familiar with Morales, who spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons in the East AHL with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he hit 49 homers in both seasons.

Before landing with the A in 2019, he has played with five different MLB teams since the 2006 season. His longest stint came in Los Angeles Angeles, where he spent the first six seasons of his career. He is a .267 forward with 212 home runs and 735 RBIs.

The addition of Morales gives the Yankees a little more depth and power, especially with injured championships (and possible DHs), Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Staton, still indefinitely.

Miguel Andujar, who also served mainly as DH after returning from Illinois on May 4, could be operated on a shoulder operation at the end of the season. Even though Andujar chooses to continue his rehabilitation, he is still back on the IL for now.

And although Morales is better known for his bat than for his glove, he also provides a reinforcement to Luke Voit on first base with Greg Bird still on the injured list.

Morales is also a hitman, giving the Yankees another option on the left side of the plate in a formation dominated by the right-handed hitters.
