The Yankees will return from the All-Star break a day later than scheduled to begin playing a spring lineup against the AL East leaders Boston Red Sox.

Outfielder Trey Amburgey, called to the majors for the first time on Thursday, will be in the Yankees lineup and play on the right ground with Aaron Judge on the COVID injured list.

Additionally, the Yankees’ first baseman will be Chris Gittens, who was also recalled from Triple-A due to Luke Voit returning to IL with a bruise to his left bone.

Additionally, the Yankees have recalled outfielder Greg Allen, infielder / outfielder Hoy Park and wide receiver Rob Brantley from Triple-A with Judge, third baseman Gio Urshela and wide receiver Kyle Higashioka for COVID IL.

Thursday’s game has been postponed due to five Yankees testing positive for COVID.

The first pitch at Yankee Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 pm YES and MLB Network will broadcast the game on TV.

Southpaw Jordan Montgomery (3-4, 4.16) will be the Yankees’ starting pitcher, while southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez (6-5, 5.52) will be on the mound for Boston.

The Red Sox are 6-0 against the Yankees this season with three-game sweeps in New York in June and Fenway Park in June. Boston (55-36) has a 1.5 game lead in the division over the Tampa Bay Rays (53-37) and eight ahead of the Yankees (46-43) and Toronto Blue Jays (45 -42).
