As the old saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures.
The Yankees need another replacement fifth starter with injured Michael King and Nestor Cortes on COVID IL, so the plan is to fly Scranton / Wilkes-Barre again.

The choice to pitch Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium against the Phillies, whether as a starter or behind an opener, is a journeyman who has recorded terrible career numbers as a big league, terrible numbers in training Spring 2021 for the Yankees and has racked up a high Triple-A ERA this season.
But right-hander Asher Wojciechowski pitched four scoreless innings of relief with seven strikeouts and no walks in his last outing.
While still technically in the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre roster, Wojciechowski is already in New York and trained with the Yankees ahead of Tuesday night’s series opener against the Phillies.
“We’re probably going to use a version of Asher Wojciechowski (Wednesday night),” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “We’ll see where we are with the use of lifters and things like that… but expect Woj to be activated.”
With Scranton, Wojciechowski is 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in four games, including three as a starter.
“I think (Wojciechowski gives us) the best chance to come out,” Boone said. “He started the year on IL so he hasn’t launched in a long time and he’s still building himself up, but he’s just come out of a really good release and I just feel like that he’s the best guy to go and give us a chance to win a soccer game.
As a big leaguer, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound player is 9-15 and has a 5.95 ERA in 57 games, including 34 starts, over four seasons with the Astros (2015), Reds. (2017) and the Orioles (2019) -20). He was 1-3 with a 6.81 ERA last year for Baltimore in 10 games, including seven starts.
The 32-year-old Pensacola, Florida native signed a minor league contract with the Yankees in February, then started the season at alternate camp after reaching a 7.94 ERA in four training outings spring.
