The New York Yankees will not have the services of Edwin Encarnacion and Gary Sanchez at the moment.
Marly Rivera, of ESPN, announced Thursday that Encarnacion and Sanchez had been injured in New York's double clash with the Detroit Tigers and that they would undergo further tests. Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided an update on Friday:

Gary Sanchez has a strain in the groin similar to the last one. But Aaron Boone said he was "optimistic". Sanchez will be back before the end of the season. Edwin Encarnacion has a "soft" oblique strain, by Boone.

The Yankees are assured of a title of the American League of the East. There are 10 more games than the Tampa Bay Rays in second place, while there are 14 games left until the end of the playoffs.
New York ad Austin Romine would start at the receiver and Luke Voit at the designated hitter for Friday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Because of his good divisional head, the team does not need to get Sanchez or Encarnacion back in a hurry, but getting them on the field for the playoffs would obviously be a nice luxury.
Sanchez and Encarnacion have identical percentages of .531. The first is second in home runs (34) and third in RBI (77), while the second has 34 homers and 86 RBIs between his time with the Yankees and Seattle Mariners.
