Yankees Place Gary Sanchez on the list of injured

The Yankees announced Friday to have placed the catcher Gary Sanchez on the list of injured 10 days, with retroactive effect to April 11, due to tension in the left calf. Safety Companion Kyle Higashioka was recalled from Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre in his place.

Sanchez becomes 12th Yankees to date on injured list, joining top contributors Luis Severino, Dellin Betances, Aaron Hicks, Miguel Andujar and Giancarlo Stanton, among others. He will be absent for at least the next nine days, as the move is retroactive for a day, which is not a blow for the Yankees, given the excellent start of the game enjoyed by Sanchez. At this point, it has reduced by 0.286 / 0.333 / 0.732 with six big flies in just 45 round trips.

Higashioka, who will be 29 in the absence of Sanchez, will team up with Austin Romine including the tandem of the Yankees while Sanchez is on the board. In the past two seasons, he has struggled badly at the MLB with the Yankees, totaling 0.133 / 0.212 / 0.256 in 99 selections.
