Yankees Place Miguel Andujar for 10 days in IL

The Yankees have placed third base player Miguel Andujar return to the list of 10-day wounded by a club announcement. Lefty Nestor Cortes Jr. was summoned by Triple-A to take the place of open list.

Andujar had previously suffered a tear in the right labrum that seemed to threaten to end his season. Surgery was not the first option, however, and Andujar seemed to be coming out of a month-long rehab stay.

Unfortunately, the joint has clearly not reacted as hoped since Andujar has been activated. In nine games this month, he only hit 0.088 / 0.114 / 0.088.

It is not entirely clear at this point what the next steps might be. Andujar could try again to rest and rehabilitate, but it goes without saying that the surgical option will also be re-examined.
