Five takeaways from Wednesday's match
1) The Yanks have now lost three games in a row, the first time since 8, from April 12 to 12. They lost four consecutive games. The Yankees now have a run of nine straight wins.
2) The Yankees' scorers were unable to maintain a three-point lead and then allowed the Blue Jays to take the advantage by four with seven unanswered points in the seventh and eighth innings. It was an unusual night for Zack Britton in particular, which allowed races (three) for the first time in 13 consecutive appearances. He gave a circuit of three points to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
3) James Paxton did not make much effort either, allowing four runs on four hits (including a circuit) in just 4 2/3 innings. Paxton, who did not take the decision into account, beat three batters and withdrew four. Paxton now has an average of 3.11 in 46 1/3 inning.
4) Gary Sanchez continues to put the 2018 season behind him emphatically. Sanchez hit his 19th round of the season, already more than last season. Sanchez added a single RBI, giving the Yankees 37 points over the season.
5) DJ LeMahieu has maintained a batting average above .300 for most of the season, but recently he has been playing baseballs. LeMahieu has five more base touches in his last six games, including a circuit in this one. He had 14 more base hits in his previous 48 games. LeMahieu drove in four of the Yankees races.
