Five takeaways from Tuesday's game …

1) Domingo German had a rough start, giving up three earned runs in the first inning – including two home runs. He finished the game after 5.1 innings of work, allowing a total of five earned runs on eight hits. German did strike out seven batters, but it was not enough to slow down the A's offense. It was his first loss since June 7 against the Indians. His record is now 16-3.

2) Gary Sanchez It gave the Yankees an early 1-0 lead, which soon disappeared into the bottom half of the first inning.

3) Aaron Judge hit his 13th home run of the season, off a first-pitch fastball in the top of the eighth inning. The 467 ft. long bomb was his long run home run of the season. This also ended a 14-game streak in which Judge failed to hit a home run. It was his first home run since Aug. 4 against the Red Sox.

4) It was a two-hit night for Gio Urshela, Didi Gregorius and Mike Tauchman, they were the only Yankees to have multiple hits on the night. The team totaled 11 hits, while striking out 13 times.

5) Besides allowing a first inning home run, Homer Bailey had a great night on the mound for the A's. The righty went on 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out eight batters. He improved to 11-8 on the season with the win.

The Yankees continue their three-game series with the Athletics on Wednesday at 10:07 pm at the Oakland Coliseum. LHP J.A. Happ (10-7, 5.40 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees against RHP Mike Fiers (11-3, 3.46 ERA) for the A's.
