Far Cry 4 included an Easter Egg ending that allowed you to “finish” the game from the start. Far Cry 5 then repeated the trick and, as you might expect, Far Cry 6 continues the tradition.
Spoilers follow for the alternate ending of Far Cry 6. Stop reading if you want to find it yourself.
Certainly Far Cry 6 makes you work a little harder than previous games to come to its own early end. Where 4 and 5 placed their alternate endings right after the intro, the latest installment requires you to play the first missions of the game (it took us about an hour and a half) to get to a specific point in the story that will allow your character, Dani, to escape a naval blockade around the island of Yaran on which they are located.
After that, guerrilla leader Clara gives you the choice: fight for Yaran’s freedom or escape on a boat to Miami. You are obviously supposed choose the first, but the second is entirely open to you. You can check out the full secret ending in the video below:
The alternate ending itself is quite disappointing, showing Dani on a Miami beach three months after their escape. A report mentions that Clara was killed and that the civil war has indeed ended, before mentioning the pandemic blockages, then playing Gloria Estefan’s “Conga” on the end credits. And this is it.
While it’s always interesting to see how Far Cry handles an early ending, you’ll probably have more fun looking for the one that’s meant for you. We gave Far Cry 6 a review of 8/10, with reviewer Jon Ryan saying it was “one of the funniest things I’ve had with this series in almost a decade.”
