Anti-Trump song ‘FDT’ reaches No. 1 on iTunes as Miley Cyrus’ 2009 hit ‘Party in the USA’ climbs into top 200 as Biden takes victory

Joe Biden’s election victory over President Donald Trump on Saturday catapulted years-old songs into strong digital rotation, including YG FDT’s anti-Trump rap medley and Miley Cyrus’ hit Party in the United States.
Rapper YG’s 2016 song FDT, which means “ f *** Donald Trump, ” was briefly the most played song on iTunes on Sunday.
YG, the Compton, Calif., Native released the track with the late Nipsey Hussle on his 2016 album Still Brazy, which coincided with Trump’s first presidential campaign series.
After Biden was declared the expected winner by major news agencies on Saturday, FDT’s digital sales jumped 740% from Friday, according to Billboard.
FDT sales had previously increased on Tuesday, the day of the actual election, which spanned several days as several key battlefield states needed more time to count postal votes.

From the period beginning Tuesday to Friday, FDT recorded 2,000 downloads, an increase of 233% from the four-day period to Tuesday.
Cyrus’ hit song from 2009 reappeared on Saturday, climbing the top 200 U.S. iTunes list.
It was also No.93 on Spotify’s streaming chart in the United States with 313,000 views, according to ChartData.
On social media, revelers in New York and elsewhere lambasted the song as they danced the streets to celebrate the election results.
The Biden campaign victory rally in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday also appears to have done wonders for Mary J. Blige and Coldplay.

Blige’s hit song Work That saw its digital downloads jump 5,642 percent on Saturday after Vice President-elect Kamala Harris stepped onto the podium as she performed in the background.

Other election-inspired songs that changed the charts on Saturday included two hits that seem to coincide with Trump’s exit from the White House – NSync’s Bye Bye Bye and Steam’s Na Na Hey Hey Hey Hey, Steam’s Kiss Him Goodbye.
The only pro-Trump song noticeable on the charts this week was Bryson Gray’s Trump Is Your President, which recorded 1,000 downloads on Tuesday.
But sales fell when Tuesday switched to Wednesday. They have declined further since then.
