The Democratic presidential candidate, Beto O'Rourke, responded Thursday night to a "death threat" emanating from a lawmaker of the State of Texas.
Briscoe Cain, a member of the Texas House of Representatives, posted a message on Twitter during the Democratic debate in Houston on Thursday, after O. Rourke announced his intention to remove weapons of great power from civilians. He was elected president.
"Yes, we'll take your AR-15," O'Rourke, a former congressman in El Paso, Texas, tweeted during the debate.

"My AR is ready for you, Robert Francis," Cain replied, using O'Rourke's birth name.

At this point, O'Rourke said he did not interpret Cain's tweet as a joke.
"It's a death threat, representative," O'Rourke wrote. "Clearly, you should not own an AR-15 or anyone else."
Cain replied, "You are a child, Robert Francis."
Recent weapons of this type have been debated nationwide, but most notably in Texas, where 22 people were shot dead at a Walmart store in El Paso, O 'Rourke's town. on August 3, and eight people were fatally wounded. The shooting of the suspect in the Midland-Odessa region on August 31.
O'Rourke, 46, sat in the January 2013 Congress early this year. He launched his presidential candidacy in 2020 after generating national name recognition during a high-profile US Senate session against Republican incumbent President Ted Cruz.
O'Rourke advocated a mandatory takeover of assault weapons, among other things, to control firearms.
Cain, 34, is a Baytown Republican who represents Texas' 128th district, which covers part of Harris County.
The VoteSmart.org website shows that votes in favor of Cain's second amendment this year included support for the authorization of handguns in places of worship; allow the storage and transportation of firearms in school parking areas; and allow law enforcement officials to carry weapons on the school grounds.

In March, Cain drew attention to a task at a Texas school that promoted a teacher's anti-Trump program.
