Sony has confirmed that the much-needed PSN name renaming feature will soon be available for PS4 users. Players in North America can change their identity starting today, April 10, and those in Europe, starting tomorrow, April 11.
"We are excited to announce that the online PSN login feature will be officially launched today for all PlayStation 4 owners," said Sid Shuman, Director of Social Media. at Sony, on the PlayStation blog. Shuman goes on to say that login changes can only be made via a web browser or your PS4 – so PS3 and PS Vita users are not lucky. As previously confirmed, the first change is free, but any subsequent changes to your PSN will cost USD 10 / £ 8 or USD 5 / £ 4 for PS Plus subscribers.
There is no limit to the number of times you can change your ID, and you can always return to a previous version of your ID for free by contacting PlayStation Technical Support. No one else can take your old credentials even after a modification.
