The game works extremely well in Safari on iPad, iPhone and Mac. It’s unclear how long Nintendo will allow this site to stay up, but it was first reported in April, so it’s been around for several months now. According to the website, you can also save your progress in the game. Presumably, your saved games will be deleted if you clear your browser cache. Keep in mind that when playing with a keyboard on a Mac or PC, the old Nintendo 64 buttons have been remapped to different keys. It’s a bit confusing – Button A is X, Button B is C, and so on. The game seems to be over. The original Super Mario 64 was only 8 megabytes in size, so it’s not at all surprising that this is possible.
