You can now tinker with your Nikes thanks to the miracle of technology

Wow, technology. Papal applications. A speculative electronic money that absorbs as much energy as a small country. The shopping baskets that are spying on you. And now, a pair of $ 350 Nikes, packed with motorcycles and trains, that connect to an app to control their fit … and that you can apparently "tinker with" by connecting them to an Android.

No, reader, I'm not here to shame you for spending $ 350 on lace-up electronic shoes. (Listen, at least you're splurging on fitness instead of a Keurig beer or something.) I'm just here to let you know we're old enough to break our shoes.

According to CNET, users have reported that the Android app for Nike Adapt BB shoes (but not the iOS version) was experiencing serious technical problems as a result of a recent firmware update. According to reviews posted on the application's download page, it still can not connect to any shoe, and the firmware update seems to have "blocked" the shoes. In some cases, they may be manually reset through a tedious process, although the Verge has reported that some users have stated that the motors of the shoe have completely stopped working, no matter what they did.

CNET pointed out that shoes are always shoes, whether the application works or not, and that buttons on the side continue to work:

You are still able to wear sneakers and walk around, but all the smart features of the app have stopped working with the update, said users frustrated.

"The first software update of the shoe generated an error during the update, which allowed to choose the right shoe," wrote Asa Domolky, a critic, on the application.

… Usually, slot machines make the devices completely useless. At least the Adapt BB turns into a pair of classic sneakers. You can also control the adjustment using the buttons on the side.

In a comment on the Google Play Store, a user explained in detail the tedious process of resetting an Adapt BB:

TO RESET SHOES: 1) For one shoe, hold both buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. You will see TWO RED TURN SIGNALS, then a SOLID RED BEFORE FADING. 2) Next, hold down a button throughout this process. Once it becomes WHITE, hold down the other button THREE TIMES, ONE OR TWO SECONDS EACH TIME. The first time will become RED. The second time will become YELLOW. The third time will become GREEN. Let the buttons work for 15 seconds; it is completely reset. Repeat for the other shoe. The connection should work! Skip the update of 14/02/19!

Nike has not responded to a request for comment from CNET, although it has responded to an angry user on the Play Store page: "We are aware of the problem and are actively working to search for 39, a solution ".
