On the whole population of players of Division 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, absolutely nobody completed the new Operation Dark Hours raid of the game, a series of four mechanically-based boss games, a first for the series.
It's not that the raid is too difficult. The raid is too difficult on console. I do not remember seeing such a division between the content on the PC and the console, but that's exactly what's happening here. Division 2The raid is very difficult on PC and has been eliminated by only a handful of teams compared to the larger player population. The first free time in the world, before one of the mechanics was known, was five hours. Long, but not unreasonable, and now we have PC teams running the problem thoroughly 30 minutes now that they have understood optimal strategies.
And yet, console players simply do not have a prayer. I see horror stories about teams stuck on the first boss for 10 hours. The teams go to the final boss but give up after 11 hours. Regardless of the degree of coordination, regardless of the minimum number of players, it is clear that this was a PC-designed and PC-tested raid, which simply does not work as a viable business on any PC. console.
Again, one of the problems here is that nothing will change unless Massive changes it. The high-end console players now have versions that can hardly be improved. All optimal strategies for each encounter are well known. But with the ceiling stuck at 500, even a few more weeks, no one is going to do it too much to make it easier, as we can see with destiny raids. And yes, it seems that Massive must play to some extent on the console raid.
The main problem is accuracy, because many of these encounters have the tightest windows to allow players to damage weak spots, and mice and keyboards can use their weapons like laser beams, which is much harder on console. The same goes for the ruthless damage suffered The division is compared to other games. With darker controls on the consoles and half the speed on PC, it's easy to take a misstep for a fraction of a second and get instantly overwhelmed. And in a raid of eight players, even though a The player falls at the wrong time, he can ruin everything.
It is possible that a team or two could pass and defeat at one point, but that would not change for me the idea that Massive needs to adjust the raid for console players. It makes no sense to have end-of-game activity that makes PC gamers turn into high gear, while 48 hours later, console gamers can not even beat it once. Ubisoft has publicly stated that it predicts that the raid would bring people back into Division 2who did not sell as well as they would like. First, the problem with this was the news that the raid would not contain the match, unlike all the other activities (Massive says that they work for the LFG game in the game), but it is now clear that this does not happen. Would not matter, because the best, the most coordinated console teams in the world can not beat it. And as no one can beat it on the console, it further decreases the number of players who will even try it first.
I do not know what the exact solution should be here. It's probably not just an enemy that deals damage / health, but it could even be a more nuanced action, such as increasing the size of hitboxes of weak points in certain sections or the extension of the timers for certain phases. But then again, if it's one thing to design complex content in one game, it's another not to test it for the platforms on which the majority of your player base will play it. I very much doubt that anyone at Massive himself can beat this raid on console. I doubt that all these PC teams could beat the raid if they were on console. And even if eventually, some teams do it, this is not the state in which the raid must be, and must change some capacity on Xbox One and PS4.
