“You” Season 3 Trailer Follows Penn Badgley’s Serial Killer in the Suburbs

Joe Goldberg may have swapped the city for the suburbs, but he just can’t seem to shake off his murderous past in the next season of “You.”

Netflix unveiled a full-length trailer for Season 3 of the psychological thriller series on Friday. The clip shows stalker and serial killer Joe (played by Penn Badgley) and his wife, Love (Victoria Pedretti), welcoming a son, Henry, after moving from Los Angeles to the small town of Madre Linda, California.

This new domestic bliss, however, appears to be short-lived as Joe soon finds a new obsession with a mysterious woman next door. And although he and Love try to be “kind, normal neighbors,” the trailer suggests there will be a body count again.

“In my scare story, this is the most scared I’ve ever had,” Badgley says in the character’s voiceover as Joe. “I never thought to ask myself what happens after a boy has a girl? “

“You,” based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel of the same name, premiered on Lifetime in 2018. The series exploded in popularity after being snatched by Netflix just three months after its premiere.

While the show’s inaugural season was set in New York City, Season 2 moved the action to Los Angeles. Fittingly, Season 3’s move of Joe and Love to the suburbs will bring a number of new cast members, including Tati Gabrielle and Scott Speedman.

“I’m not at all afraid to say that we could definitely follow Joe for several more seasons,” Sera Gamble, showrunner and co-creator of the series, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. “Our rule of thumb is always just if we have a great idea we’ll give it to you right away. Because we believe in the world Caroline gave us and we believe in these characters, we just know that they’ll keep finding some really fucked up shit to enter.

Season 3 of “You” premieres on Netflix on October 15th.
