Microsoft will soon allow you to upload even larger files to OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint, increasing the limit from 100 GB to 250 GB. The larger file size limit could be good news for people who work from home due to of the COVID-19 pandemic and who need to upload large projects such as 4K and 8K videos, CAD files or scientific datasets to the cloud so that they can be shared with colleagues and clients. The change will also push to OneDrive for personal use, according to Microsoft, which might make it easier for you to upload large collections of photos or videos.
Microsoft says the 250 GB file size download limit will start rolling out by the end of January. The company expects the new limit to be generally available by the end of this quarter.
This is Microsoft’s second recent increase in file upload size – the company increased it from 15GB to 100GB last July.
