Young Kim eliminates Democrat in California House rematch

The Associated Press launched the race for Kim on Friday night, 10 days after the election. Kim led Cisneros by just over a percentage point with 99% of constituencies reporting, according to the AP.

Kim joins more than a dozen other Republican women elected to the House this year and will resume a Democrat-held seat for a single term after the Republican retires. The race between Cisneros and Kim has become heated at times, with campaigns exchanging accusations of hypocrisy, especially over healthcare and past statements by Kim downplaying the importance of the Latin vote.

Polls during the race put Cisneros and Kim in a bind, although the model of political scoring site FiveThirtyEight favored a Cisneros victory.
