LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A little girl was hit by a bullet while inside her home on New Years Eve in Lexington.

Police said they received dozens of gunfire calls throughout the night, which is not uncommon on New Years Eve.

But just before midnight, police were called to the 400 block of East Sixth Street for reporting that a minor had been shot and injured.

Police said several bullets entered the house and hit a girl under the age of 10.

The child was taken to hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

Police told WKYT they did not suspect the house was targeted.

About an hour later, police were called to nearby Race Street to report that another house had been damaged by gunfire.

Two adults and four young people were inside the house. No one was injured in this incident.
