Young Rock and Kenan make their debut

Young Rock (NBC, 8 p.m.) and Kenan (NBC, 8:30 p.m.): NBC adds a few laughs to its Tuesday lineup, reliably linking the debuts of two sitcoms to the heartbreaking drama It’s us.

The first is Young Rock, which was created by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with Nahnatchka Khan. The comedy “will follow The Rock from Pebble to Wrestler to Presidential Candidate. (The latter is just in the show business, for the time being.) Johnson and Khan have assembled a whole team of likeable actors to play The Rock at 10, 15 and 20: Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu, respectively. This coming-of-age sitcom is a bit more complex than most; the framing device sees Randall Park (as himself, now a reporter) interviewing the presidential hopeful, which will trigger all kinds of flashbacks to his mustached, fanny-stuffed teenage years. But with Khan, fresh out Fresh off the boat, helping to show the way, Young Rock should offer more than just more humor based on ’80s fashion. ”(See the rest of our February TV preview here.)

As for Kenan, this sitcom follows Saturday Night Live veteran Kenan Thompson, who, as Sam Barsanti describes it, “plays a widowed father who hosts a morning talk show, the stress of his life forcing him to reluctantly accept help from his stepfather (Don Johnson) who love the saxophone. is desperate to spend time with his granddaughters. SNLChris Redd also stops as Thompson’s brother, presumably offering some of the same kind of chaotic energy that Thompson played so well in the Nickelodeon era. It’s hard to get a good read of the show from this short clip, but come on, Kenan Thompson is finally doing a sitcom remake – and it’s about time. Bad habits, sacred orders (Hulu, season one): The latest in a series of shows that appear to have stolen their premise from a 30 Rock Little, this four-part reality TV series follows a group of partying girls at a nunnery in the countryside of Norfolk, England. It’s not exactly a Sister Act riff, because those raucous twentysomethings don’t seem to be hiding from the gangsters. But if you’re expecting a simple clash between some tense nuns and a few libertines, you might be disappointed – the two groups remain pretty nice in this negotiation for an evening.
