"Young Sheldon" pays homage to "The Big Bang Theory"

In an episode airing immediately after the finale of his series, "Young Sheldon" surprised fans of "Big Bang Theory" by casting another look at the gang, but turning them into younger versions.

The postulate of Thursday's episode of "Young Sheldon" had Sheldon eagerly awaiting announcements from the Nobel laureates. When his party disappears at the end of the episode, the voiceover, interpreted by Sheldon's adult Jim Parsons, explains that at that time he felt like "a neutrino, destined to be alone forever ".

Viewers see six more children.

One is a little boy who listens to his radio, probably waiting for the announcement. His mother then addresses the boy: "Leonard, my dear, you should be in bed."

Another child, a girl, is deeply asleep. A wall sticker says that she calls Penny.

We see the young Raj do his homework. We see the young Howard playing video games in a pear chair and addressing a resonant voice. (Carol Ann Susi voiced Howard's mother on "Big Bang Theory" before her passing in 2014.) Young Bernadette has a microscope on her nightstand while she sleeps. And we see the young Amy in the glasses reading on the flashlight.

Older Sheldon then concludes: "Fortunately, I was wrong."

This moving moment was a treat for fans of "Big Bang Theory", who had just bid farewell to the characters they knew and loved for 12 seasons.

The show ended with an hour-long finale and a half-hour retrospective broadcast after "Young Sheldon".
