“You’re going to scare a lot of little children!” “

The final auditions of America has talent Season 16 took place on Tuesday, and it was really a motley team. The fast-paced, loaded-up episode featured a pizza dough champion, a competitive cake eater, a bunny playing basketball, a troupe of dancing teddy bears, a troupe of torso Terry Crews fans. naked, two contortionists, one a wizard scientist, a real estate agent / rocker a la Janis Joplin, a guy who played the recorder in elementary school while beatboxing at the same time, and an idol singer named Zac Taylor who unfortunately had no connection with Hanson.

But the most unexpected and creative act of the night (and one that would only be welcome or appropriate in a mishmash talent show like EIGHT) was to be Russian dance illusionist Pasha, who – after his wife Ailona missed her flight and couldn’t make it to their scheduled duet audition – had to improvise and go it alone.

“I’m in a real stalemate and trying to figure out what to do. … We’re supposed to dance a new number, ”Pasha told the judges suspiciously, claiming he had never performed solo before. “I’m very worried.… If you could give me a chance, I hope I could make it work.

“This is the ultimate ‘the show must go on!’ Judge Howie Mandel noted, wishing Pasha good luck but, along with the other judges, seemed skeptical.

What followed is… well, pretty hard to describe. But just say it’s gonna haunt EIGHT the minds of viewers for a while. After Pasha momentarily left the stage, host Terry pulled out a pair of Strange Valley robot dolls – a dance duo that appeared to be half-human / half-puppet, like a pair of Disneyland animatrons that had loosened from their ties at the “It’s Small World” or Haunted Mansion ride and were now unleashed on the EIGHT step. And at the end of their weird revolving music box routine, the female doll turned her crinoline… to reveal the Pasha solo underneath!

After a late reaction, Judge Sofia Vergara stood up screaming, looking more shocked than the time she thought she accidentally shot Simon Cowell with a crossbow. “I love it! It was so surprising! I’ve never seen anything like it in my life!” She exclaimed.

Equally astonished Howie then told the post-reveal Pasha, who was standing there with two Siamese twin dummies pushing behind his back: “If people log on, you’re going to scare a lot of little kids!”

“It was… weird“Said Heidi Klum, to which the smiling Pasha simply replied:”I know. “(I think that was the point.)

Even Simon, who has seen virtually everything in his many years sitting on the panels for Idol, X factor, and To have talent on both sides of the pond, was completely stunned. “You obtained us, right? We all thought, “This is going to be terrible”, but it was actually awesome! It was a big surprise, “he said.” We love to be surprised, and that’s what you just did. And that’s why you got four yeses.

So now, with that nightmare fuel to sustain intrepid viewers over the next three weeks, America has talent will take a break while NBC broadcasts the Tokyo Olympics. And when season 16 resumes on August 10 with live performances at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater, the 150+ performers who have auditioned this season will already be reduced to 36. (Unfortunately, the producers have canceled the Judges’ Cuts episodes. this season, likely to return to the calendar after the Summer Games break.) We already know the six Golden Buzzer acts that will automatically move on to live touring: indie-pop singer / cancer survivor Nightbirde (Simon’s choice) , quick change artist Léa Kyle (Heidi’s), the Northwell Health Nurse Choir (Howie’s), Broadway showman Jimmie Herrod (Sofia’s), the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team (Terry’s) and the opera prodigy Victory Brinker (EIGHTthe very first unanimous group of Golden Buzzer).

But will Pasha join these competitors – and if so, will his real wife Ailona finally show up? Maybe he doesn’t need her after all, because he’s doing great on his own… but I can only imagine how creepy this act could get if he was with two puppeteers. and several disco-dollies in the mix.

Tuesday’s auditions episode ended in a cliffhanger, as judges reportedly argued furiously over their decision to semi-finalist live shows on a pile of Polaroids scattered using a whiteboard, looking like to Charlie in this It’s always nice in Philadelphia even. But it will be necessary to wait until the end of the Olympic Games to know who will have the chance to go to the EIGHT gold. See you later.
