In November, our APK APK Insight YouTube Music revealed a job allowing users to play audio files on their devices. This is an important step in creating the default reading client for the Android app. YouTube Music 3.09 reveals more about functionality today, especially about its limitations.

Unable to stream device files
Version 3.09 indicates that it is impossible to play files on devices on a Cast device, such as Google Home or Android TV. This was intended as Chromecast works by sending a streaming link to the receiver playback speaker. It's not a direct stream between devices, like Apple's AirPlay.
This was also a limitation in Play Music, but this application asked users to download content from your computer. Last year, YouTube had announced that a cloud locker would eventually be available on the new music service.

Limits of the queue
The second limit found by YouTube Music 3.09 is the inability to "mix device files and YouTube music tracks into your queue". content class at a time, then switch manually.
This is a somewhat strange choice because this ability already exists in Play Music. One of the possible reasons is to avoid any confusion when broadcasting the content. A user can create a queue only to find that some songs are "skipped" when they are played on a primary speaker.

This partition could also extend to other "side-loading" features that we have identified, such as creating a playlist. For example, users can add a song to a playlist on their phone only to find that it's not accessible in YouTube Music on other devices and on the web.
How to update?
YouTube Music 3.09 is being rolled out through the Play Store. We do not publish APKs for download directly because of legal difficulties related to copyright and the possibility of deletion. In the meantime, this model is perilous given Android's bundled bundles of apps and dynamic Google Play delivery.
