YouTube fans had to find a new hobby for two hours today as the site encountered an apparent technical glitch that prevented the videos from loading.
Users began reporting issues just before 7 p.m. ET, through the DownDetector site, which monitors Internet outages.
The YouTube website was accessible throughout the issue, but clicking on a video resulted in a black screen and constant loading circle with no resolution.
Twitter was a hub of complaints, with the hashtag #YouTubeDOWN trending.
YouTube acknowledged the problem in a tweet, but did not specify the cause of the outage. “… And we’re back – we’re sorry for the interruption. This issue is resolved on all YouTube devices and services, thank you for your patience. “
