"The production and receipt of child pornography are extremely serious offenses that threaten the safety of our children and our communities," US Attorney Katherine Neff Welsh said in the government's sentencing memorandum. "Jones' deeds have taken something from his victims and their families that they will never be able to recover."
In his plea, Jones said he used Facebook to persuade minors to send him videos and photos about 30 times. He lured them by telling them that they were part of a modeling opportunity and that it could help them get followers on Instagram.
To mitigate his grief, Jones claimed to have been sexually abused as a child.
