YouTube TV offers free subscriptions to Showtime to longtime users – BGR

They say nothing in life is free, but Google would like to delay, as some YouTube TV subscribers are now offered a free subscription to Showtime as of September 5th. The subscription usually costs $ 10.99 a month, but if this limited time offer is granted to you, you can try the service for free.

It is not entirely clear who has access to this free summer of Showtime, since YouTube TV simply refers to the "long-time friends" of the offer. That being said, as a person who has been paying for YouTube TV since last year, I have not seen the offer on my account. It should appear as soon as you've downloaded tv.youtube.com or the YouTube TV app if you're eligible, but if you want to make sure you do not miss it, you can also go to the Settings menu.

It may not be a coincidence that this sleek gesture comes just two months after Google raised the monthly $ 10 YouTube TV price while adding nine new channels to the service. As a TV user on YouTube, I still think that 50 € is a reasonable price to pay for what has been the best internet TV service I've ever seen, but I can see how those who subscribed to 34.99 € at the launch of YouTube TV would be less than enthusiastic.

The best part of the offer (other than Free Showtime) is that YouTube TV will not charge you automatically at the end of your free summer. If you decide to pay for Showtime in the future, you will have this option, but you will not have to cancel it in advance nor check any box to avoid a surprise charge in September.
