YouTube is keeping its promise to bring picture-in-picture viewing to iOS users. TechCrunch reports that YouTube promises PiP viewing to all iPhone and iPad users in the US, starting with volunteers using Premium. You’ll need to sign up for the test through the experiments website on your computer, but you’re good to go after that – you can watch clips in a floating window while you check out your social media or get things done.
Premium testing ends October 31. You may need to reinstall the YouTube app if the feature is not immediately available.
The company did not specify when it planned to activate PiP for non-premium subscribers. It’s one more step forward, notice. Support for web-only YouTube was limited at best – this should broaden the audience and put the YouTube app more on par with competing video services.
