A popular YouTuber died Friday morning when his electric scooter collided with a truck in the Battersea district of London.

Emily Hartridge, 35, became the first death case involving an electric scooter in Britain. The government is currently reviewing laws and public awareness campaigns regarding transport and scooter companies.

Hartridge's death was confirmed Saturday with a message on his official Instagram account. "Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and died," said the post. "We all loved it very much and it will never be forgotten. She has touched so many lives that it's hard to imagine things without her. "

Hartridge, known for his YouTube videos that garnered millions of views, began prolifically publishing on the site seven years ago. She often used the "10 Reasons" format, and her video series covered topics ranging from relationships and dating to her sexuality and mental health. Hartridge had recently released several videos of his decision to freeze his eggs.

Hartridge went from YouTube celebrity to British television, especially in the series "Sketch My Life" and "Holy Shit I'm 30."

Police were informed of the crash at a roundabout involving Hartridge at 8:36 am Friday, according to the London Metropolitan Police. Police used witnesses and broadcast camera footage in the surrounding area.

Nobody was immediately arrested after the accident.

Although it is illegal to drive an electric scooter on roads in the UK, millions of units have been sold in the country. The UK government is revising its law and on Monday, Transport Minister Michael Ellis is scheduled to meet several electric scooter companies, including Lime, Bird and B Mobility, the Guardian reported.

The government plans to update its regulations on individual means of transport, according to an orientation document issued by the British government in March. According to the report, the government continues to explore how new forms of micromobility, including electric scooters and shared bicycles, could be added safely to the country's urban landscapes.
