Popular content creator Fitz has been accused of using an insult while playing the EpicSMP Minecraft server, and has now responded to criticism over his choice in words.
On January 14, Matt Watson – a member of the popular SuperMega YouTube channel – announced the creation of the EpicSMP Minecraft server. In addition, he provided a stacked lineup of content creators and internet personalities who were invited to participate.
One of the content creators that Watson invited to the server was Cameron “Fitz” McKay, a well-known game and comedy creator. Fitz was one of 30 personalities who would take part in the Minecraft shenanigans.
A few days later, on January 17, Fitz was criticized for being streaming language on the EpicSMP server. After “fitz” started trending on Twitter, he posted several tweets discussing the situation and explaining his point of view.
The incident in question occurred while Fitz was streaming his Minecraft content on January 17th. In a clip from this stream, Fitz walked around then paused for a moment and wondered, “What am I really doing?” I am retarded. “
After a brief pause, the YouTuber seemed to realize that what he was saying could be offensive and remarked, “Can I say that? Will they get mad at me on Twitter? “
Fitz’s comments spread online after the incident, and many were quick to criticize his choice of words. Users tweeted their thoughts on the insensitivity and rudeness of the language, and called out Fitz for using offensive words with his audience.

Others seemed less surprised and offended by the incident. Several Tweets expressed surprise at the general reaction to the clip and responses such as “Fitz was canceled for that ???” also flooded Twitter.
After the drama started to unfold, Fitz hit back directly at those who criticized him and said (sarcastically), “I hope we will one day live in a world where no one can say anything at all.”
a lot of people who watch my content don’t realize that i’m actually a crazy loving progressive.
I’m just fucking and trying to make jokes. you can stay in a hurry if you want but I’m probably already on your side.

He went on to explain that he only joked when the language in question was used. He ended his thoughts on the situation by stressing that “you can stay in a hurry if you want to but I’m probably already on your side.
While many of his fans supported Fitz and his explanation, others still took issue with the language he used. “You can say whatever you want, but people also have the right to dislike what you say,” one user replied.
that goes without saying. IMO, the problem is, there is no recognition of intent or context, so much of the outrage seems short-sighted and overly sensitive. people should opt out of content they find unattractive instead of attacking it.

Fitz replied: “At IMO, the problem is that there is no recognition of intent or context, so much of the outrage seems short-sighted and overly sensitive.” He suggested that people who find language offensive “should opt out of content they find unappealing instead of attacking it.”
This isn’t the first time that Fitz has been criticized by the content creation community for his language or actions. At the end of 2020, the designer was called by Pokimane for harassment she suffered after Fitz joked that the two were in a relationship.
It remains to be seen how far the fallout from Fitz’s comments will spread. So far there has been no word on removing the creator from the EpicSMP server or any bans or suspensions. We will keep you informed of any developments.
